Synopsis
Sacré Cœur explores the enduring mystery and transformative power of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The film traces its origins to 17th-century France, where Jesus revealed His burning heart of love to Saint Marguerite-Marie Alacoque.
Through historical reenactments and modern testimonies, the documentary reveals how this devotion continues to impact lives around the world today.
‘The world is dying not to know that it is loved’, says a priest in the film. What better way to remedy this than to bring to the big screen this heart ‘that has so loved mankind’, in the words of Christ himself to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque?

Steven, born in 1974, came into the world after a 24-hour operation, with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. He fought between life and death for a week in an oxygen chamber at a hospital in Annecy, at the foot of the Basilica of the Visitation, under the watchful protection of Saint Francis de Sales and Saint Jane Frances de Chantal.
His father, a career musician and performer, left the family home to return to the stage and the world of rock. At the age of 3, Steven’s mother took him in her arms and fled Haute-Savoie to settle in Juan-les-Pins. Steven grew up on the French Riviera until the age of 22, when he decided to move to Paris to pursue his dream of becoming an actor.
On July 15, 1996, just three weeks after arriving in Paris—and following a string of failures and one final audition before returning home—Steven found himself cast in the boy band « Alliage », a true cultural phenomenon at the time, selling over 5 million albums between 1996 and 1999.
But in 1999, the phenomenon ended: no more contracts, no more tours, no more albums, no more fans, no more work. Steven was left alone, deeply in debt, and branded with the « boy band » image. He realized his career was over and that he had to let go of his dreams of acting and cinema.
From there, Steven entered a long desert of solitude, intoxication, and depression… But through the “secret and daily” prayer of his mother, he was led to an encounter with Christ. It happened in the Chapel of Saint Rita in Nice. He emerged from it “miraculously healed.”
His life would never be the same again.
Starting from an observation of the world we live in and yet another grim and recent news story… comes the awakening!
Amid crises, violence, scandals, crimes, divisions, wars at our doorstep, a youth growing increasingly cruel, and investigations into heinous crimes that remain unanswered and without justice.

The Dogma of Jesus Christ
In Christian theology, dogma refers to the essential truths revealed by God and taught by the Church.
What Should We Understand About the Sacred Heart?
The Sacred Heart is not just a religious symbol or theological dogma. It is the living expression of Jesus’s love for all humanity—a love that burns with mercy, tenderness, and compassion.
✨ Beyond Dogma and Belief
- The Sacred Heart goes beyond formal belief systems.
- It’s not only something to understand intellectually—it’s something to feel.
- It is a spiritual experience, a moment of illumination where the soul is touched by the presence of God.
🕊️ Merciful Love
- Jesus offers His wounded, pierced, and open heart.
- He invites each person to enter into intimacy with Him, to console His heart, and to respond to His love.
- His mercy is a refuge for the soul, a source of healing and peace.
To Be Illuminated by God’s Love
- It means to let your own heart beat in rhythm with His.
- It means to live transformed, carried by an inner light that transcends suffering, doubt, and loneliness.
- It means to taste the divine tenderness—a love that does not judge, but lifts, embraces, and saves.
The Sacred Heart is God made vulnerable out of love, calling us to union, trust, and reciprocity. It’s an invitation to live love—not just believe in it.
The dogma surrounding Jesus includes:
🔹 Incarnation
- Jesus is true God and true man.
- He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
- This mystery affirms that God entered human history to redeem humanity.
🔹 Redemption
- Jesus’s death on the cross is the ultimate act of love and sacrifice.
- Through His Passion, He reconciled humanity with God, offering salvation to all.
🔹 Resurrection
- Jesus rose from the dead on the third day.
- This confirms His divinity and victory over sin and death.
🔹 Trinity
- Jesus is the Son of God, the second Person of the Holy Trinity.
- He shares one divine nature with the Father and the Holy Spirit.
These dogmas are not just theological statements—they’re the foundation of Christian faith and the reason for devotion to His Sacred Heart.
❤️ The Symbol of the Sacred Heart (Sacré Cœur)
The Sacred Heart of Jesus is one of the most powerful symbols in Catholic spirituality. It represents:
Divine Love
- A heart burning with love, often depicted with flames.
- It shows Jesus’s passionate desire to be united with each soul.
🌿 Sacrifice and Suffering
- Surrounded by a crown of thorns, pierced and bleeding.
- These elements recall His suffering during the crucifixion.
✝️ Mercy and Compassion
- The heart is often shown radiating light, symbolizing grace and forgiveness.
- It’s a refuge for sinners and a source of peace for the faithful.
🕊️ Invitation to Intimacy
- Jesus revealed His heart to Saint Marguerite-Marie Alacoque, saying: “Behold this Heart which has so loved men…”
The devotion calls believers to “let your heart beat with His”—to align their lives with His love, humility, and mercy.
