Louis Philippe de Gagoue

Louis Philippe de Gagoue is a photographer, stylist and artistic director based in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

For him, photography is a form of utopia through which he wants to offer his own aesthetic spin on our surroundings, while challenging our perspectives and the way we look at us and at the world.

Ivoirian photographer and stylist Louis Philippe de Gagoue in collaboration with Nigerian Fashion Designer Folake Majin recently took to the streets of Lagos, Nigeria for an editorial he titled “The Lost Sheep”.

Using wedding inspired dresses by the renowned Folake Majin, de Gagoue uses Marina as the backdrop for his Bible-inspired story.

 

Folake Majin and her brand Schon Afrique have been around for decades and have established themselves as a premium brand with distinct, eclectic designs.

Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Italian Vogue from 1988 until her death in 2016, shared a shot of the young man on her Instagram account with the caption « He deserves the front row of fashion week ».

Louis Philippe de Gagoue, the fashion icon gone too soon

An enfant terrible for some, an avant-garde artist for others, Louis Philippe de Gagoue left no one indifferent. His death on 20 August 2021, at the age of 30, is a major loss for the art world.

Since then, collaborations have multiplied with Vogue, Glamour, Numéro magazines and also luxury brands Chanel, Prada, Versace, Edun, Loza Maléombho.
